For this week’s Tilson Tuesdays employee spotlight, meet Kevin Bailey!
Kevin is a Senior Manager of Proposal Development on Tilson’s Operations team. He collaborates with Tilson leadership to find and secure project opportunities that will deliver the best value for our customers and that best fit Tilson’s ever-growing suite of services and capabilities. Kevin helps with estimating, finance, operations, and managing a team of experts for business development and request for proposal (RFP) efforts.
Kevin originally joined Tilson in 2010 when he was fresh out of college and the company had fewer than 20 employees. From 2010 to 2013, he supported project management and contracts for grant-funded fiber projects. He then left Tilson to gain ten years of experience working in technology and consulting. In 2023, Kevin rejoined the Tilson team, and we are so happy to welcome him back.
“Tilson is a special place to me because it was the launch of my professional career,” said Kevin. “10 years later, it’s exciting to see how much the company has evolved while staying true to its roots of top-notch service and executing meaningful, complex projects.”
Despite the incredible growth since he was a previous employee (from 20 employees to over 1,400), Kevin notes that the forward-thinking culture remains and Tilson continues to take on challenging projects and build our reputation as a unique problem solver in the telecom industry. While the company has changed in the ten years since he was here last, what hasn’t is its commitment to its people.
“I believe Tilson always does the right thing and prioritizes the safety and well-being of its employees above all,” Kevin said, adding, “I also believe Tilson has a true investment in the career paths of its employees and wants to cultivate growth opportunities to retain its top talent.”
Outside of work, Kevin lives in Portland, Maine, with his wife, nine-year-old daughter, six-year-old son, and their dog, Grady. Keeping up with his fast-paced family takes much of his free time, but he tries to get out to the golf course in the summer months and hit the slopes when there’s snow.
Fun fact: Kevin has a degree in secondary education and originally planned to teach high school English. Meeting Josh Broder, Tilson’s previous CEO and current executive board chairman, changed his career trajectory and he joined Tilson (and we’re so glad he did!).
