For this week’s Tilson Tuesdays employee spotlight, meet Scott Schaack!
Scott is the Director of Business Development for Outside Plant (OSP), which is the division at Tilson deploying high-speed fiber broadband internet to communities across America. With 13 consecutive years on the Inc. 5000 and eight consecutive years on the ENR top 600, Tilson is leading the charge to bring reliable, high-speed internet nationwide. Scott’s role is to help support the development of our OSP work, which is an important contributor to Tilson’s overall growth.
A major initiative for Tilson and its OSP division is to bring internet service to historically unserved or underserved areas, which is critical for distance learning, remote work, local businesses, and public and emergency services. For Scott, being part of this work is incredibly rewarding. “There is a national push backed by the government to bring high-speed internet to underserved areas and Tilson is one of the leaders in this space,” Scott said. “To be part of this company and its team to help complete this mission is extremely exciting to me.”
Though Scott and his family currently live in Georgia, Scott is originally from the south suburbs of Chicago and remains a Chicago Bears and Cubs fan today. In fact, his labradoodle is named Wrigley after the Chicago baseball stadium.
Scott and his wife recently became empty nesters and are spending their free time visiting family and friends, going to concerts and ball games, and doing absolutely nothing at all because they finally can.
Fun fact: Scott’s first ambition was to be a fighter pilot and he spent his first year of college at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University before deciding on his current career path. His favorite movie is Top Gun Maverick.
We love having you on the team, Scott, and appreciate all you do for OSP and for Tilson!
