Tilson wins Maine FirstNet Contract

For Immediate Release
09/24/14

AUGUSTA, MAINE September 24th, 2014. Tilson, teamed with the James W. Sewall Company, has been awarded the contract to assist the ConnectME Authority and Maine Emergency Management Agency in the planning and governance for FirstNet, including engagement with the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and coordination with neighboring states and Canadian provinces. The project is funded by the NTIA’s State and Local Implementation Grant Program (SLIGP).

These two Maine-based firms provide years of experience planning and deploying telecommunications networks in rural states. In addition, both firms have an exceptional record of successfully managing federally funded telecom projects to deliver desired products on time and under budget.

FirstNet is mandated by Congress to develop, build and operate the nation’s first nationwide wireless public safety broadband network. Police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and other public safety entities need a dedicated nationwide wireless broadband network. They need a network that they can count on during emergencies and to meet their everyday missions.
