Overview
Horvath Communications owns and operates carrier-grade Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) to enhance cellular connectivity and improve public safety at locations such as casinos, theme parks, hospitals, and mixed-use office buildings across the Midwest. Horvath Communications needed a monitoring and maintenance system for their widespread network services and turned to Tilson’s Network Operations Center (NOC) to get the job done.
Challenge
Operating and maintaining a carrier-grade DAS network with a small, remote team can be a daunting task, and the maintenance requirements to sustain the overall availability and coverage that cellular carriers require is a significant lift. Maintaining visibility and performing regular maintenance are critical tasks and network outages must be identified and quickly resolved. Having systems spanning a large geographic area makes monitoring and maintenance even more complicated to manage. For Horvath Communications to perform these tasks on their own, they would need to invest substantial resources that would impact their ability to develop and grow their network.
Solution
Tilson’s NOC Team led the monitoring and maintenance of Horvath Communication’s DAS network to provide best-in-class monitoring and ensure timely routine and emergency maintenance. This guarantees reliable network performance for Horvath Communications, freeing them up to focus their resources on growing their network. The Tilson NOC has an experienced team capable of monitoring systems from multiple vendors and locations in real time. Additionally, it provides a vendor agnostic solution with around-the-clock monitoring and a national field team capable of on-site maintenance and repairs. Tilson’s NOC provides KPI tracking, dashboards, and system health reporting, along with preventative maintenance services that cover everything from sweeping up and changing light bulbs to upgrading devices and providing thorough RF system maintenance.
