Tilson Infrastructure has partnered with Plenary Broadband Infrastructure (PBI) as the sole telecom infrastructure provider for the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to commercialize middle mile core network routes being built along major roadways in the state for the first time.
High fiber counts are being installed along protected Rights of Way (ROW) on the most direct paths available, including:
This network will feature new Corning G.652 fiber that will make Lit 10G/100G and Dark Fiber services available to underserved areas of the state, and boost the bandwidth capabilities of national, regional, and local providers for all types of telecom-related services to businesses and residents.
The network will activate in segments as fiber construction is completed and tested, with Ready For Service (RFS) dates beginning in 2023 and carrying forward through 2025. The NCDOT network will be accessible from ILA huts, handholes, and junction boxes strategically placed along all routes.
Tilson Infrastructure will leverage Tilson’s internal fiber construction teams to design and build custom laterals enabling customers to reach the NCDOT routes. Tilson is also responsible for the Operations and Maintenance of the network providing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and NOC services.
Industry standard SLAs are integral to all customer Agreements, with the goal of providing a top-tier customer experience that combines leading carrier-grade support with the energetic feel of a startup. Tilson Infrastructure is a carrier-neutral network operator, commercializing this network as an Open Access opportunity for all entities needing more bandwidth on new and unique routes reaching across the state.
