Tilson Tuesdays, Steve Hand

For this week's #tilsontuesdays employee highlight, meet Steve!

Steve is the Director of IT & Systems Security and is responsible for all IT operations and information security at Tilson. His primary goal is to ensure that every information worker at Tilson can be as productive as possible.

“I primarily worked for myself for 20+ years before selling my last company back in 2013. I had worked on projects with Tilson as far back as the late 90s or early 2000s with CIO Mike Dow. After selling my company, I knew that Tilson was the type of organization I would like to work for,” said Steve. “CEO Josh Broder, Mike, and I spoke back in 2015 and didn’t find the right fit at that time, but fast forward to 2018, and the timing was right. Working for an organization that focuses on always doing the right thing and truly operates based on its values is hard to find. I tell folks almost every week that I was excited to come to work at Tilson in 2018 and I am even more excited today.”

Outside of work, Steve enjoys social partner dancing, primarily West Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, and Salsa. Between attending weekly dances, Steve leads local dance groups where he teaches and attends events around the country. Off the dance floor, he enjoys doing DIY renovations on his 120 acre farm, hunting, and fishing. Steve grew up in MidCoast Maine and currently lives in Lincolnville, Maine with his wife and black lab, Savvy, who was named after the former Boston Bruin player Marc Savard.

Fun Fact: Did you know Steve built, drove, and crewed stock cars at many local tracks and regional series in the 90s?

Thank you, Steve, for your hard work and expertise! We're happy to have you on the team.
