PORTLAND, ME (June 28, 2012) Tilson is pleased to announce that its Utilities Group has provided a diverse range of implementation, troubleshooting, and operational support services in support of Central Maine Power’s (CMP) Smart Meter Program. One of the largest active smart meter deployments in the United States, CMP’s smart meter program consists of installing more than 600,000 meters for CMP’s residential, commercial, and industrial customers, deploying more than 4,000 network devices to provide coverage across CMP’s service area, and upgrade and install more than 10 new IT systems to support increased data volumes and new functionalities.

"An engagement that began with Tilson consultants providing technical writing for network operations procedures along with software development and database administration has expanded to include wireless site acquisition, construction management, design and implementation of advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) network devices, GIS mapping, and RF propagation."
Smart meters provide a multitude of benefits for customers, including access to up-to-date usage information to track, manage, and control their energy usage, as well as more accurate billing. In addition, smart meters will enable CMP to pinpoint power outages and respond more quickly.
