For this week’s Tilson Tuesdays employee spotlight, meet Will Shehan!
Will is a Senior Program Manager for Tilson’s Outside Plant team, leading and optimizing fiber projects in partnership with several transportation agencies, including the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, Georgia DOT, and North Carolina DOT. These large-scale fiber projects connect critical public services to high-speed internet, such as traffic systems, communication systems, and emergency services. They also bring internet to homes and businesses along major traffic routes. Will’s role is at the center of these projects, managing the daily network operations and coordinating with our transportation partners to maximize the reach of their fiber networks.
While Will enjoys supporting all of these networks, he says his favorite has been with the Pennsylvania Turnpike as he’s played a part since its inception. “I was the project manager from day one, and it’s been extremely rewarding to watch the project grow alongside our team,” Will explained. “The PA Turnpike Commission is excellent to work with.”
When asked about what he likes about working at Tilson, Will shared that “everyone works together as a team to reach our end goal, and I enjoy working here because of how Tilson has created a team environment.”
In his free time, Will enjoys spending time with his wife, their two boys, their dog Reese, and a cat named Muffin. He lives with his family in North Carolina, but grew up in the mountains of Virginia, developing a love for outdoor adventures. He can often be found hiking, camping, hunting, and fishing with his family. Will also enjoys watching sports like hockey (go Bruins!) and football (go Pats!).
Fun fact: Will was a D1 swimmer for two years while studying at the Virginia Military Institute.
