For this week’s Tilson Tuesdays employee spotlight, meet Matt Jensen!
Matt is the Regional Director of Engineering Projects in Las Vegas, where he oversees multiple specialized teams as they deploy fiber optic infrastructure to the community. He oversees the planning, design, permitting, and support for construction of these networks, which is done in-house at Tilson. Matt coordinates the various resources and ensures each step of the project aligns seamlessly with the planned timeline. Since joining Tilson in 2023 as an OSP Project Manager, Matt has been promoted to Engineering Project Manager, Assistant Director of Engineering, and this past February was promoted to become Regional Director of Engineering Projects.
Matt served in the Army as well as the Minnesota National Guard for a combined six years. His Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) was a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic and he served one tour in Egypt, wearing many hats including Tactical Power Generation Specialist, Computer/Detection Systems Repairer, and Automated Logistics Specialist.
“One of the many reasons I enjoy working at Tilson is the military roots – being a veteran-led company and having veterans throughout the ranks, it gives some familiarity of structure and camaraderie found in the service,” Matt said. “I also find that Tilson has done a tremendous job of fostering open communication across teams and levels, strengthening team collaboration and feeding into what makes Tilson a powerhouse of a company.”
When not at work, Matt can either be found at the gym doing weightlifting, yoga, Pilates, or a bootcamp; on a hike; or relaxing at home with his husband and two dogs. Matt also likes to be a homebody and spend quiet evenings in the house watching comedies or the latest docuseries.
Fun fact: Matt has an incredible memory and recall of music – he is often told he should be a contestant on Beat Shazam!
