Tilson Tuesdays, Griffith Wittschen

For this week’s Tilson Tuesdays employee spotlight, meet Griffith Wittschen!

Griffith is an Outside Plant Laborer based in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where he plays a key role in Tilson’s hydrovac operations. In this position, Griffith and his crew use a hydrovac machine, which is a high-pressure vacuum system, to safely and efficiently remove soil and debris around underground utilities. This is an important step before installing fiber optic cables, as it ensures that the area is clear of any obstacles that could interfere with the installation process. The work is physically demanding and fast-paced, requiring Griffith to stay alert and focused on safety. His attention to detail and teamwork help keep the hydrovac operations running smoothly.

One of Griffith’s favorite aspects of his job is his involvement in Tilson’s Corporate Safety Committee. The committee brings together leadership, safety, and field team members to share experiences and insights across our Outside Plant and Wireless divisions. As someone passionate about safety, Griffith values the opportunity to contribute to changes that directly enhance the well-being of his teammates.

When asked about his experience working at Tilson, Griffith shared, “I enjoy working here because Tilson treats me like a person, not just an employee. It’s rare to find a company that genuinely values its people and listens to their concerns. I also appreciate the opportunities for growth, which make me excited about my future here.”

Outside of work, Griffith has a wide range of hobbies that help him recharge after a busy workday, including miniature figure painting, woodworking, playing video games, and cheering for his favorite team, the Pittsburg Penguins. With a young son and two cats, Minnie and Mouse, Griffith rarely has a quiet house but loves to spend time with his friends and family.

Fun fact: Griffith has been playing the cello for 18 years in numerous chamber quartets and trios. He continues to play and uses music as a form of personal expression.

Thank you, Griffith, for your contributions to keeping our outside plant operations running smoothly while prioritizing safety above all else.
