Tilson Tuesdays, Gerardo Leon Martinez

For this week’s Tilson Tuesdays employee spotlight, meet Gerardo Leon Martinez!

Gerardo is a Fiber Splicer on Tilson’s Outside Plant team based in Appleton, Wisconsin. He joined Tilson over two years ago as a Construction Supervisor, where he managed our horizontal drilling crews. Recently, Gerardo transitioned into his current role as a Fiber Splicer to broaden his expertise in building high-speed broadband infrastructure.

As a fiber splicer, Gerardo is responsible for the precise installation and fusion of fiber cables, ensuring all connections are secure to prevent data loss and ensure optimal performance. His deep technical knowledge, combined with his drive to continually improve his skills, has been pivotal to his success. Gerardo credits much of his progress to the support from his team.

“I enjoy working at Tilson because every day is different. There’s always a new project to work on, which keeps things exciting. The company culture has been very easy to fit into, and I’m lucky to work with supportive coworkers and managers who make it a great place to grow.”

In his free time, Gerardo enjoys spending time with his friends and family, and when the opportunity arises, he loves to travel. His favorite place to visit is his hometown in Guanajuato, Mexico. Although he was born in Mexico, he’s called Appleton home for over 20 years and is a big Green Bay Packers fan.

Fun fact: Gerardo has set a goal to go skydiving for the first time in the summer of 2025, embracing his adventurous side!

Thank you, Gerardo, for helping Tilson to continue to build faster and more reliable broadband infrastructure.
