In recognition of National Veterans and Military Families Month, we are highlighting some of the veterans and active service members we are honored to work with here at Tilson. For this week’s #tilsontuesdays highlight, meet Chuck!
Chuck is the Director of Safety and is responsible for leading development and implementation of Tilson’s safety program to keep our employees safe.
Chuck has served 15 years in the Army, 11 years in active duty as a Field Artillery Officer, ROTC Instructor and ROTC Brigade Operations Officer, and 4 years as a Drilling Reservist in a Civil Affairs Battalion. “I’m proud of my service and an opportunity to give back to the United States,” said Chuck. For those who are transitioning to the civilian sector, Chuck has this advice: “Have an open mind, take some deep breaths when things don’t work exactly like they did at your old unit. Military job transitions took me about 6 months to feel comfortable and 12 months to get bored. A civilian transition will take considerably longer but you’ll catch on quick and be a huge asset to your new organization.”
Outside of work, Chuck enjoys doing anything on or in the water, biking, golfing, buying classic imported cars, and exploring new restaurants and beaches with his wife. Chuck is originally from Syracuse, New York, and roots for the New York Yankees, the Buffalo Bills, and all Syracuse sports teams. His favorite food is seafood or chocolate chip cookies, his favorite show right now is “Ted Lasso”, and he has a Bichon-Shih Tzu mix dog named Oliver.
Fun Fact: Chuck just became a grandpa for the first time to baby boy named Charles Allen Rorabaugh!
Thank you for your hard work and service to our country, Chuck!
