For this week’s Tilson Tuesdays employee spotlight, meet Blake Evans!
Blake is an IT Project Manager and Scrum Master at Tilson, working remotely from Birmingham, Alabama. Blake is part of Tilson’s Technology team, which works behind the scenes to bridge the gap between technology infrastructure and the physical construction of projects, ensuring everything runs smoothly, efficiently, and safely. In his role, Blake manages IT systems that track project progress, coordinate resources, and ensure all teams are aligned. As a Scrum Master, he leads agile practices, ensuring that teams stay focused and adaptable as projects evolve. His ability to balance both the technical and organizational aspects of these projects ensures that Tilson is supported by a solid IT foundation, driving success from start to finish.
Blake joined Tilson earlier this year, first as a SkillBridge intern for 5 months before transitioning to his current position. Prior to joining the Tilson team, Blake served 10 years in the Air Force as an engineer and program manager, followed by working with the Space Force on space technology demonstrations. His military background provides him with a strong leadership perspective and the ability to manage high-priority projects under pressure.
When asked about what he loves most about working at Tilson, Blake emphasizes the teamwork and professionalism that he sees across the company. “My team is incredible, and all the teams I work with are just as amazing,” he explains. “The composure, respect, accountability, professionalism, and integrity of the Technology teams is really outstanding. They always make even the most mundane tasks feel fun.”
Outside of work, Blake enjoys spending time with his kids, whether it’s convincing them to go canoeing or hiking or being roped into activities like coloring or watching Disney movies. He also loves multi-day canoe trips along Alabama’s rivers, which is his favorite way to relax. Recently, Blake gained a new “pet” in the form of a stray cat, affectionately named Toby or Ricky, who has quickly claimed Blake and his family as their own.
Fun Fact: Blake originally started his career pursuing music and creative writing before switching to the military (#PlotTwist).
