In recognition of National Veterans and Military Families Month, we are highlighting some of the veterans and active service members we are honored to work with here at Tilson. For this week’s #tilsontuesdays highlight, meet Tony!
Tony is the Vice President of Engineering and is responsible for Tilson’s wired and wireless engineering projects, which include the engineering and design, fielding/MRE/licensing, and GIS support.
Tony has served four years in the Marine Corps as a Corporal & Squad Leader (E4). “I really appreciate Tilson focusing on hiring veterans,” said Tony. “I think they bring a level of maturity, experience, discipline, and commitment that are a huge value add, even if they may not have direct industry experience. The Tilson culture values service, including military or other forms, which is one of the positive attributes that make it a great company to work at.”
For those who are transitioning to the civilian sector, Tony has this advice: “As you are deciding what your next career step is or will be, your military service will benefit you in whatever you do. During interviews, I would focus on your experience bringing value through your adaptability, resilience, and leadership experiences, especially in an environment of constant change.”
Outside of work, Tony enjoys traveling, visiting wineries and craft breweries, hiking, skiing, and bird hunting. Tony grew up in Ellendale, North Dakota, and now lives in Atlanta, Georgia. His favorite teams are the North Dakota State Bison and Minnesota Vikings football teams, his favorite food is steak, and his favorite author is W.E.B. Griffin.
Fun Fact: Tony has 24-year-old twins, a boy and a girl, who live in Minnesota.
