PLYMOUTH, New Hampshire (10/07/2020). Tilson, a national network development and information infrastructure professional services firm, was selected by the New Hampshire Electric Cooperative (NHEC) under the federal CARES Act to be the full-service provider of design and construction to expand broadband access to hundreds of underserved residents in rural towns. As part of the broadband access project, Tilson will build a new fiber network that will provide fiber to the premises (FTTP), with internet service options of 1 gigabit per second.
Through the Connecting New Hampshire Emergency Broadband Expansion Program (Connecting NH Program), the $50 million state initiative funded through the CARES Act aims to expand high speed internet access to underserved areas of New Hampshire. The second round of funding will provide broadband access to members that are supplied electricity by the NHEC in the towns of Colebrook, Stewartstown, Clarksville, and Lempster. CARES Act broadband projects in New Hampshire require design, logistics, and construction expertise, as they must be completed by December 15, 2020.
