TILSON APPOINTS CATHERINE SMITH TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

PORTLAND, Maine (09/16/2020). Tilson, a national network development and information infrastructure professional services firm, today announced the addition of Catherine Smith to its Board of Directors. Smith, Executive Vice President of Brightstar Corp, the world’s leading provider of end-to-end solutions that better manage the world’s mobile device needs, brings over two decades of transformational leadership experience within the telecommunications and wireless industries. Smith has led organizational planning, diversification, and growth strategies across both global private and public companies. Recent initiatives include leading Brightstar’s COVID-19 response, addressing workforce management and associated labor, and employment issues.

“We are excited and grateful that Catherine has agreed to serve on our Board of Directors,” said Joshua Broder, Tilson CEO. “She is an outstanding visionary leader and her multi-domain expertise will be instrumental as Tilson continues to pursue its strategy for long-term sustainable growth.”

As Executive Vice President, Smith also serves as the Chief Administrative Officer, General Counsel and board member of Brightstar, where she oversees global legal and compliance operations in nearly 50 countries across 5 continents with annual net revenues exceeding $8B. Prior to Brightstar, Smith served as Vice President and Lead Counsel for Motorola, Inc. and Motorola Mobility. For over a decade, she managed the largest portfolio of global strategic partners and distributors worldwide, including customer relationships, go-to-market strategies, financings, and global sales in more than 20 foreign markets.

In 2015, Smith was named in FierceWireless’ “Most Influential Women in Wireless” List and has been featured in Modern Counsel, Leaders Magazine and Profile Magazine. More recently, she received the 2018 National Association of Women in Law (NAWL) Diversity “Challenge” Award recognizing Brightstar’s adoption of hiring practices to increase representation of women to one-third of leadership positions. Smith is a graduate of Georgetown Law Center and holds a B.A. in Government from the University of Virginia.

“I’m honored to join the Board of Directors of Tilson,” said Smith. “I look forward to providing counsel to a mission-driven company and pioneer in the wireless industry.”
