SACRAMENTO, CA (04/19/2023). Tilson, a national network development and information infrastructure professional services firm, has been selected by the Golden State Financing Authority (GSFA) to develop strategic broadband plans for 23 Northern California counties. Tilson will assess current broadband access, determine future needs, and provide specific guidance for all 23 counties to improve affordable high-speed access that benefits residents, businesses, and government services, ultimately improving digital equity and inclusion to Californian communities.
“Tilson is uniquely positioned to lead strategic planning for GSFA’s member counties with our years of in-depth broadband experience, technical knowledge, and requisite relationships for success,” said Adam Quinlan, Tilson’s Director of Broadband Consulting. “We appreciate the local nuances and sensitivities required to effectively collaborate with government agencies, businesses, and local communities.”
Tilson will work directly with California community leaders to identify current and future telecom-related needs, inventory and analyze the current state of connectivity across each region, and provide comprehensive strategy and guidance to improve high speed affordable internet access in a way that meets each communities’ priorities. The goal is to ensure high-speed broadband internet availability, adoption, and use are sustainable in all 23 counties to improve the lives of residents, especially those currently unserved or underserved by critical high-speed broadband access.
“This planning effort benefits local economies, emergency services such as fire and medical, educational facilities, and individual residents. Helping communities understand how broadband enhances connectivity is central to our work.” Quinlan added.
Funding for this work comes from an American Rescue Plan Act allocation through a U.S. Economic Development Administration grant under the Economic Adjustment Assistance Program.
